|| Saraswati: Meaning, Significance and Her Controversy with Bhagawan Brahma Explained || The root of the term Sarasvati is sri (सृ)+ asun (असुन्)= saras (सरस्) meaning 'watery substance' + vati (वती) which is taken from the root term वतुप् (स्त्रीलिंग), meaning 'containing' = Sarasvati which means a lake, a pond, a large water body (stagnant). The last shloka of the Saraswati Suktam of Rig Veda 1.3.10 mentions Sarasvati as a goddess of Knowledge and intellect- “O Saraswati, You are the purifier (of our Intellect), and your Strength (of Wisdom) grows within us with Sacrificial Offerings (inner and outer), May my offering in yagnya strengthen Your Wisdom within me“ The same Rig Veda in 1.3.12 describes Goddess Sarasvati as a River- “Saraswati, that Great Wave (of Universal Wisdom) (Who has flowed as a River) and Who is the awakener of our Intellect, is (now) shining as the embodiment of Universal Wisdom (in this Yagnya)." Hence, we can conclude that Saraswati exists in both forms, as a Goddess, and as a river, and in both forms, she carries KNOWLEDGE within herself. || The Major Controversy Related To Maa Saraswati || According to Saraswati and Matsya Purana, Bhagawan Brahma created Maa Sarasvati and because of her extreme beauty, got sexually attracted towards her. However, the truth is not that simple. Here, the truth can be portrayed in 3 ways- 1. Logically speaking- If anyone creates something, it doesn’t become its children. Also, children is produced only by X-chromosome of father and X-chromosome of mother. That means X-X combination of father and mother respectively. In the case of Bhagawan Brahma and Maa Saraswati this rule is not applied at all as it is mentioned in almost every puran confirms that Maa sarawati was created by himself hh his mind without involving any female. So, she cannot not be called as the biological daughter of Bhagawan Brahma. Bhagawan Brahma desired to have a wife. Since it was Brahma himself who is responsible for the whole creation, he created a lady named Saraswati and When Brahma expressed his desire to marry her, Saraswati opposed Brahma arguing that he was like a father to her. But Bhagawan Brahma persuaded Saraswati by saying that the very reason for her creation is to be his wife. Saraswati tried arguing that she could not copulate with her own father. However, it was useless and finally Saraswati succumbed to Brahma's wish, understood the reason for her creation and became his wife. 2. Morally Speaking - Its clear that Maa Sarasvatî was not at all ready to marry Bhagawan brahma but eventually he left her no choice. Hence, it was a BLUNDER done by him, and we as a hindu have stood with Maa Sarasvatî and has punished Bhagawan Brahma by not worshipping him, not from the today but from the centuries. Do any other religion has balls to punish their own god or angel for doing something morally wrong? Come on, they don’t have guts to even accept the mistakes of their godmen. 3. Spiritually Speaking- To understand it in a third way, is not an easy task. You need to get above all these things and try to understand the true meaning of Hinduism which is a subjective religion unlike abrahmic religion. Being a subjective religion means to be a divine consciousness which can be experienced only internally. If I say, Bhagawan shiva did so, don’t consider it that there is a place where Bhagawan shiva lives in a physical form. It's just our manifestation to understand the supreme brahman in the form of Bhagawan shiva or Bhagawan Vishnu. In short, Brahma Vishnu Mahesh, Sarasvatî, Laxmi shakti, etc are just guna (qualities) which resides in every human being. In other words Bhagawan Brahma represents a deluded guna which has not freed itself from the bondage of maya, Bhagawan Vishnu represents to a guna who choses to live with maya and Bhagawan Shiva is a guna which choses to destroy all the two guna and lives beyond it. These puranic tales are nothing but to make us aware about the consequences of balanced and unbalanced gunas. #BasantPanchami
