Dr.Sanghamitra Bandyopadhyay,
who received the "Padmasree" award this year for her immense contribution in Science and Technology ...

A Professor and First Woman Director of ISI (Indian Statistical Institute) , who oversees the function of all 5 Centres of ISI located at Kolkata, Delhi, Bangalore, Chennai and Tezpur besides several other Statistical Quality Control and Operation Research units spread across India.

Dr. Bandyopadhyay is a Computer Scientist specializing in Computational Biology and her research is mainly in the areas of Evolutionary Computation, Bioinformatics, Machine Learning and Pattern Recognition....

It's sad to be not a celebrity in this country of ours ...No so called intelligent intellectuals talk about her, nor arranges Press Conferences, no reports in the Press, no TV bytes, nothing ...Perhaps we are totally ignorant of simple individuals who silently carry on with their works so dedicatedly ....
