The lotus flower is a beautiful expression of the sacred energy in nature. Its symbolism runs deep and the allegorical truths hidden in its shaded waters are many.

The lotus flower represents enlightenment, purity, renewal, regeneration and rebirth.

It signifies a rising from the darkness, a birth in the shadowy depths to a flowering in the bright solar rays.

The lotus also symbolises the glands and energy centres of the human body and their awakening. 

The thousand-petaled lotus flower of the crown chakra is said to be the foremost and yet subtlest of all the energy centres. Located at the crown of the head the Sahasrara chakra is described as a lotus flower with 1,000 petals of different colours.

If the wonderful rainbow lotus is the flowering pinnacle of our energy system, then the hips must be seen as the depths containing its roots.

But, far from being a place of darkness, the hips may be seen as a nurturing pool of cool energy filled with nutrients and nourishing hormones.

The hips are the incubator of the lotus, its roots are the cauda equina nerve bundle and its stem is the awakened spinal column.

It is the hips where the regeneration begins, in the shaded pool of sacred energy; full of the nutrients needed to enable and sustain the unfolding of the powerful crown lotus flower.
